Housing Changes
Room Assignments
During the break, the Residential Life Office will be assigning new students, transfer students, and returning co-op students to vacant spaces in all residence halls. If your roommate is leaving at the end of the semester or if you do not currently have a roommate, you should be prepared to have a new roommate at the start of the next semester (those who paid for a single room are exempt).
For double occupancy rooms please make sure one bed, one desk, and one closet are available for use by the new resident prior to leaving for the semester break. Failure on your part to ensure space is available may result in cleaning and/or damage charges being applied to your account.
If you are interested in pre-selecting a roommate, please accompany the person you wish to reside with you to Campus Housing & Dining building at 205 W. 12 Street as soon as possible, at which time you will be required to complete the appropriate move paperwork and get approval for your request.
Be advised: Your new roommate may not proceed with the move until approval has been given and this process must be completed prior to leaving for break.
Leave/Checkouts
Any and all Leaves/Checkouts or Moves out of or within the Residence halls at end of semester require contacting Residential Life at the Campus Housing and Dining building by December 13, 2010. All room changes must be completed by December 18 or before leaving for the semester break.
All of the following steps must be completed:
Get approval from the Residential Life office at Campus Housing & Dining building at 205 W. 12th St. by December 13.
Contact your RA for a checkout time or use the express check-out option at your front desk.
Complete a change of address card at the front desk.
All check-outs must be completed before leaving for break. Any checkouts/moves not completed by 8:00 am on Friday, December 18 will be cancelled.
***The Express Check-Out Agreement adds convenience and flexibility to your room check-out. You may check-out by simply reading and completing the Express Check-Out Agreement (which can be picked up at your residence hall front desk) and turning it in to the Quad, RC, or TJ Front Desk along with your room key. If you choose this option, there is no need to sign up for a checkout time with your RA.
Note to Collegiate Station Residents: The Express Check-Out option will not be available for Collegiate Station residents. You must contact your RA 24 hours prior to your desired check-out time to schedule an appointment with them to complete the check-out process.
Please be aware that there are certain liabilities associated with this agreement:
You lose the opportunity to question damage charges before they appear on your student account.
You also lose the opportunity to make incidental repairs and do extra cleaning to avoid charges.
If you would like to have input regarding possible damage charges in your room, then express check-out is not for you. Please contact your RA and arrange a time to check out.
VITAL INFORMATION
If you are not returning for the Winter Semester, you must vacate by December 18. Move or check out appointments are available between 8:00 am until 11:00 pm beginning on December 6th.

Break Information
Break Housing
Residents in need of housing during the winter break will need to complete a break stay form. These forms can be acquired at your complex's front desk or you may use the attached .pdf form.
Break Housing Form.pdf
*Due to ongoing construction and projects slated to be completed over the Winter Break no break housing will be permitted in TJ this year. If you reside in TJ Hall and accommodations are needed contact the TJ RD by Friday, December 10, 2010.
* Residents of Collegiate Station will NOT be charged for staying over Winter Break. You will however need to sign-up with your RA to stay over break so that staff is informed that you are staying.
The form must be completed and submitted no later than Wednesday, December 8 at 4:00 pm.
Prior to submitting your break stay forms, please be aware of the following:
 Break housing includes additional charges:
o $25.00 per day
o $150.00 per week
o $400.00 entire break
Break housing will not be available during the following dates:
o 12:00 noon Friday December 24 to 12:00 noon Sunday, December 26.
You will be responsible for making alternate housing arrangements during this time. If you need special accommodations, please visit the Residential Life Office in Campus Housing & Dining building located at 205 W. 12 St. as soon as possible to avoid any complications.
All university policies remain in effect during the break. This includes inter-visitation, alcohol, and noise policies.
RA's and professional staff will be on call to provide assistance during emergency situations. You can reach them by calling the Residential College front desk at: 573-341-7814.
Break Keys
All residence halls will be closed effective December 18 through January 9. Building entry will only be given to those who have signed up to stay over break and receive a break key. Break keys will be available at complex front desks on Tuesday, December 14, 2010. If you leave for break before keys are available you will need to make sure your name is on the break stay list. This will ensure your ability to get a break key at the Residential College front desk upon your return.
Please note: Charges will be applied to student accounts for each day break keys are checked out.
Collegiate Station residents who are staying over the break will NOT be issued a break key.

Break Checklist
Sign up 24 hours in advance with your RA to complete break check out.
Please leave heater units turned ON but turn heater unit fan to low. RC and TJ should set thermostats to 65 degrees. Quad residents should have their air conditioners turned off and unplugged.
Move all furniture away from heater unit - the preventive maintenance crew will be coming through to change filters over the break. They must be able to get under the heater unit.
Unplug all appliances except answering machines, aquariums and fridges.
Please remove all trash from rooms. If trash rooms are full take all trash out to dumpsters
Remove all open food items from your room: Leaving food in your room can promote mold growth and attract pests.
Wash, dry and put away all dishes in the kitchen area. DO NOT leave dirty dishes in sinks or all dirty dishes will be thrown out.
Common kitchen fridges and freezers will be cleaned over the break. Any open food items will be disposed of. Make sure any unopened packages of food are labeled with a resident's name/room number.
 Close and lock your windows.
Make sure your blinds are drawn and open. If you live on ground or first floors, then your blinds should be drawn and closed.
Enjoy Your Winter Break!
